VCA Basic (Exam only)

A VCA certificate is increasingly being set as a requirement by clients before you are allowed to start work at a site or on a project. With this certificate, you demonstrate that you are able to properly assess risks during work and that you know which necessary measures must be taken to carry out your tasks safely and in a healthy manner.

Informatie about the VCA Basic Exam

At SCE-Academy you can obtain your VCA Basic certificate without attending any prior course day(s). You prepare the study material yourself through self-study at home. If desired, you can borrow a course book with the material from us. Once you have mastered this knowledge, you come to SCE-Academy to take the VCA Basic exam. The official exam consists of 40 multiple-choice questions. The exam is taken digitally (via a tablet or laptop) and you have 60 minutes to complete it. After finishing the exam, you will immediately see the result. You pass if you have answered at least 65% of the questions correctly. Passed? Then you will immediately receive a card from us that you can use to prove you hold the VCA Basic certificate. In that case, you go home certified right away!

The exam can be taken in another language. Please ask us in advance about the options.

Do you have difficulty reading or are you dyslexic? In that case, we can provide an exam with audio support. Using a tablet with headphones, the questions will be read aloud. You can replay the questions and answers multiple times and at your own pace, or even skip them temporarily. Additional costs apply for an audio-supported exam. • Hazardous substances

• Fire and explosion hazards

• Hand tools and powered tools

• Electricity

• Lifting and carrying; tripping, slipping and missteps

• Working at height

• Personal protective equipment (PPE)

• Work permits and confined spaces

Purpose of the VCA Basic Exam

The purpose of the VCA Basic exam is to test whether you have basic knowledge of safety, health and environmental aspects in the workplace.

Who is the VCA Basic Exam intended for?

The VCA Basic certificate is required for anyone who performs—or will perform—work at a VCA-certified company. This applies both to employees of the VCA-certified company and to any subcontractors. The VCA Basic certificate is intended for employees with an operational/executing role. For employees with a supervisory role (and self-employed contractors), VCA VOL is required. This exam (optionally with a one-day course) is also offered by SCE-Academy.
